Working together to revitalise Magazine Creek Wetlands
A few years ago we planted 18,000 seedlings to vegetate the Magazine Creek Wetlands. Yesterday, City of PAE staff partnered with Conservation Volunteers Australia and 90 year 8 students from St Paul's College Gilles Plains, to do some general maintenance on the natural environment and remove tree guards from the established plants to allow them to grow further.
As part of our Environmental Community Program, this was a chance to teach eager students about the purpose of the wetlands whilst also providing them with an opportunity to contribute to their local community.
Overall it was a very successful day, the sun was shining, the students did a great job and it was a very positive experience for all. Many were already excited about getting back out there at a later date.
This is one of many activities planned for the coming months as part of our Environment Community Program. If you'd like more information about up coming activities, please contact our Environment Team on 8405 6600 or flick us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
