The 2017/18 cruise season runs from October 2017 to March 2018 and will see a total of 68 cruise ships visit South Australia, up from 52 visits in 2016/17.
With 37 cruise liner visits to Outer Harbor, 21 to Kangaroo Island and 10 calling at Port Lincoln, the state’s popularity as a cruise destination continues to grow.
This season will have the mega cruise liner, Ovation of the Seas, the world’s third largest cruise ship call twice into Adelaide. There will be a welcome return of the Queen Mary II in February, and the Norwegian Jewel, Noordam, Ocean Dream, Azamara Journey, Regatta and the L’Austral will make their inaugural visits to South Australia during this season.
If you are interested in cruise ships and would like to catch a glimpse of these floating palaces as they sail through South Australian waters, the best vantage points are Semaphore or Lady Ruthven Reserve at Outer Harbor.
Thanks to SA-UAVs for this great shot. They have a photo calendar available of all the cruise ship arrivals this year which can be purchased through their Facebook page.
